886527 2010-05-26 02:01:00 I agree with you too.

What we need is more data allowance not faster speed. ADSL2+ is good enough for any home user and nobody needs to send 50MB photos of their dog to their grandma.

It's all about price and what you are prepared to pay.

Yes, I got this two days ago:

Hi Shmuck

You may have heard that the Big Time Broadband plan is coming to an end . The decision was made lightly and we're not sorry that we will not continue to provide a plan with no monthly data allowance . TBH, the ongoing traffic management challenges involved with maintaining an innovative plan like Big Time have now made it unsustainable for peabrains like us .

To minimise the convenience, all Big Time customers will be reduced to unsuitable broadband plans based on my wife's recommendation . We'll be sending a letter in the coming weeks setting out your options to get the shaft, including what you need to do if you choose to disconnect teh internetz .

Yours sincerely

Chris Whitley - Probably the best acoustic blues musician you've never heard of :D

The song is called Scrapyard Lullaby, from the album Dirt Floor.

One of my all-time favourite albums - recorded in a barn, with just his footstomp as percussion.

886535 2010-05-26 10:28:00 I personally think it stinks that they (Telecom) are pulling the plug on the "Big Time Plan". I have always been a loyal Telecom customer and stuck with them even thru the "XT" debarcle but this could be the final straw. I know that we all use the net differently, but I am a 40GB man and all I want is to be charged a fair price for that amount of traffic. $59.95 is as far as I will go Telecom...........come up with a plan that's arround there, other wise I'm taking my business elseware. 886536 2010-05-30 00:15:00 Well .. I am doing a course but as a student I need to pay $50+ just to stream videos  I have 25hrs of videos to watch once or rewatch it to understand it better. I am up to the second exam, the first one I slogged it at school. Spent a week at school just watching videos. Now I am doing the same for the 2nd exam.

I don't need unlimited but something decent. Maybe full time students needs to pay $80+ a month just for internet, Put that on the Internet loan - course related cost component. The annual limit for all course related loans is $1,000  what about my $100 bus fares a month.

Mobile broadband is also stupid. I know people who work or study and live in the CBD or close to it and they choose not to have a landline, they have a mobile. I heard some users can get 6-10Mbps on mobile internet but look at the tiny caps. How the heck do people study in the library and just do things what devices were advertised to do. Look at Facebook and and all that stuff.

For the minority, when I was working, I didn't watch much videos. All I did was email, surf the net to read, download the odd update I guess that was good enof for a 3GB.
