885242 2010-05-26 11:53:00 I've never had that issue, maybe you need a better aerial?

The slow channel switching annoyed me when I first got Tivo (I'm sure they could speed it up with faster hardware) but I came to the realisation a few months back that I hardly ever watch live TV so it isn't that much of an issue for me. I time shift the news when I get home and pretty much record everything else.

I don't have any Digital tuner yet, though I tried out a friends DVB-T tuner card in my PC once and the reception was terrible. UHF analogue is pretty bad here too.

A new antenna might help, no idea. The thing is I can handle a slightly hazy or ghosted analog channel fine, but when it comes to digital I expect it to work 100% - when it suddenly has corruption artifacts even if for just a second it really annoys me.

DVB-S might be a better choice for me but then I hear you need a large dish or else you can get rain fade...

Not really (unless it's a true downpour). I'm running a standard sky dish (65cm I think), and it only really drops out in high winds, even then that was at the old place. Have yet to see any issues in the new place.

885245 2010-05-26 21:17:00 did you have your stopwatch running when you did this ken. Hitech (9024)
885246 2010-05-27 06:18:00 Intriguing this... I have 3 (2 UHF and 1 Satellite) tuners in our house and did some real hitech testing to establish the channel changing times on them (one higeldy pigeldy, 2 higeldy pigeldy...etc.)

Tivo 4 seconds
Zinwell 4 seconds
And the satellite one...
Hills 4 seconds

Using the guide takes longer as you have lots of key presses to change channel

Ken :nerd:

I have a DSE freeview decoder, and using the 'recall' button (which switches back to the last channel you were on) is lightning fast. I wonder why it takes so long any other way?
