2010-11-18 00:53:00 | Did you jumper the dvd and hdd, since theyre on the same cable? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-11-18 07:02:00 | I would think the DVD ROM can't read the disc, try another DVD drive possible, unlikely..... possible because the DVD ROM have trouble writing DVDs, but reading DVDs or CDs is fine. unlikely because the DVD ROM can read and boot off that illegal win 7 pro disc just fine, so how come it can't boot off the legit stuff??? but thanks for your suggestion, will try it out when i get hold of another DVD rom :D cheers

2010-11-18 07:06:00 | Did you jumper the dvd and hdd, since theyre on the same cable? I put the HDD on Master, don't know about the DVD drive tho.....same argument as my previous reply, how come it can boot off the illegal disc but not the legal one???? should I set the dvd drive to slave or something?? i dnt remember setting stuff on dvd drive on my other pc, altho the hdd is on IDE and the dvd is on sata.... oh, and did i mention that i put the illegal disc in again and it worked, but i only used it to format my hdd again, after formatting i quit installation, put the legit disc in then restart...guess what, burn.......same message.....:badpc: Thanks speedy

2010-11-18 07:17:00 | Well you should set one to master and the other slave. If both are IDE. Or you'll be there forever | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-11-18 09:05:00 | i put the illegal disc in again and it worked, but i only used it to format my hdd again, after formatting i quit installation Three things come to mind right away. 1. You cant do a DVD swap part way through - W7 formats the drive very quickly ( fast format) then loads in the files / installs windows. Changing DVD's like you have will completely defeat the purpose. 2. ONLY a 20GB Drive ------- Windows W7 requirements: 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) The drives not really big enough. While it "may" install you wont have any room to to anything with it. 3. Why is the HDD & Optical Drive on the one ribbon ? You may find there is a clash when setup like that. I've had the same thing happen with various installs of various OS's if the HDD and optical Drive are on the One Ribbon -- Wont install, with different error messages. I think you have just proven the above: i dnt remember setting stuff on dvd drive on my other pc, altho the hdd is on IDE and the dvd is on sata.... Use the IDE 1 & 2 connections on the board. One for the HDD the other for the optical Drive.

2010-11-18 22:37:00 | Are the DVDs' upgrades? If so, don't you need to have a prior (Vista) installed to prove that what you are doing qualifies for an upgade/new install? | Bryan (147) | |
