| 1154048 | 2010-11-17 23:27:00 | Hi there, jst set up a new computer from parts lying around my house. I set it up so that it boot from the DVD rom, then HDD, so I can install windows on it. I put the win 7 pro disc in, formatted the HDD then started the installation. when it was "unpacking" stuff (the indicator is telling me that it had done 0%), something popped up telling me some sort of file is missing and I can't install windows 7. Just to let you know that disc is from my former hall mate and that's all im gonna say :P then I put my real legit win vista disc in, it keeps giving me this error, BootMGR is missing, press ctrl+alt+delete to restart. It is in a loop now. I went back to BIOS, the thing is still set at booting from DVD rom first, then HDD. Any ideas what went wrong? how do I fix this? Cheers guys. oh and where is the place I put pics up again??? this is the third time I ask now, keep loosing that link... Thanks |

| 1154049 | 2010-11-17 23:31:00 | So, what version of Win7 is it?? An upgrade? Click on manage attachments in a reply, then upload the pic. Is the Win7 DVD legit tho?? If it isnt then I dont think anyone will reply. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 1154050 | 2010-11-18 00:09:00 | well, to be completely honest, that particular disc is not legit, and it isn't an upgrade. I DO have legit versions of both win 7 hm premium and vista hm premium tho, being a student at Massey we get that for free :D the reason I put that not legit disc in is because i cnt find my legit copies at the time.... I can find it now, but it didn't work, both legit vista and 7...keeps giving me the same message..... :( |

| 1154056 | 2010-11-18 00:43:00 | Have you looked here www.howtogeek.com yes I have actually :D, but that doesn't fix my problem. I think it fixes if you have a win 7 installation on your HDD but can't boot into it. my actual problem is I can't really boot from my DVD drive to install windows in the first place.. :( Thanks so much for the help tho..keep it up  |
