886292 2010-05-19 22:35:00 I need to get rid of my Corolla cause the clutch is starting to be dodgy and in Akld traffic I'll kill it for sure.
So looking at an auto. I know nothing about any other Toyotas, so whats the opinions on the others?
Camry
Rav4
Vista
Caldina
Celica (not that keen on this)
etc....

Avoid? Buy? I read ages ago Coronas were to be avoided, can't remember why now.

886293 2010-05-19 22:40:00 I'd recommend a RAV4. Most reliable vehicle I ever owned. Take the rear seats out or fold down and plenty of room for loading partially dead computers or the golf clubs. Sweep (90)
886294 2010-05-19 23:05:00 What sort of driving are you intending, pctek? If you're keen on Toyotas, Corollas are hard to ignore.

I drove a rental Camry about 5 years ago - nice engine, but the bodywork felt very 'tinny', not solid at all...

I imagine a RAV would be a tad heavier on gas than a 'normal' car, but they do give you good all-round visibility due to their height above the road...

886295 2010-05-19 23:08:00 Get a HiLux .... indistructable !! (Top Gear) .... any other, just make sure it stops when you want it to. SP8's (9836)
886296 2010-05-19 23:49:00 I had a 1992 Caldina for about 6 years. It never missed a beat, very reliable tingle (6539)
886297 2010-05-19 23:58:00 Many taxis are Camrys... they are reliable and reasonably comfortable.
(mostly LPG down here) I find them good to drive.

So looking at an auto. .

What sort of money are you prepared to pay? Getting the clutch done might be the best option if the rest of the car is OK.

886300 2010-05-20 00:17:00 We have a Camry. Not bad, $5 or 6k I think at Turners, med odometer reading. 2001 or so bought last yr. Had a foot handbrake which doesn't worry us for a auto car. For me it's pretty much the avg JP car, not highway overtaking but does the job.

No work required. Hoses may need replacing thou.
Dad drove manuals since the late 1970s and he's happy with a auto, if he get another it might be a Mercedes Benz auto :p

The newer Camry don't look too bad, better than the past IMO.

Never had a RAV style car, as they needed it for work and a stationwagon suited them, was cheaper too.

886301 2010-05-20 01:01:00 Budget? Bit hard to recommend a car without know how much you want to spend on one. :p

Avoid celica, no room. If you're after an auto I would stay away from any of the V6s, they are too thirsry with around town driving IMO.

I would buy another Corolla, or if you want a station wagon get a Caldina.
