The battery is also gone, but that wasnt replaced because it is well outside the battery warranty period . In the HP battery software it says that one or more of the cells are damaged and now the battery doesnt work at all (not even for a few seconds) . What would be the cause for all 3 parts to fail? |

Then the loss of the external PSU was maybe a fluke, but highlighted the battery issue, and the RAM? Don't have a good answer for why that may have gone. I have a real issue with 'custom' batteries - you're held at the mercy of the manufacturers - they can put any price they want on it, coz you've got zero alternative manufacturers to turn to. I've disected the batteries from some of my work equipment to find they contain a series of plain old NiCad batteries, and only one of those little 1.2v NiCads have to die in order to render the whole battery useless. Note: Cadmium is toxic, and Lithium batteries should never be disected (burn hazard). I'm not suggesting you do the same as I did. |
