1155137 2010-11-21 22:52:00 Right so you might remember a month ago or something I had a problem with my internet. It would keep dropping out, so my wireless connection would say "limited access (or connection?" and I wouldn't be able to go online until I rebooted the modem and then it would be fine.

So anyway I took the advice and got rid of my dlink and got the Netcomm you all recommend. Had no problems for a week or so and now it's pretty much doing the same thing again. No where near as much however, and it goes to "no access/connection" rather than limited if that makes any difference. It happens to both wireless laptop, wired PC and xbox.

Some days it won't do it at all, others it will do it every 10, 20 mins for a few hours or something to that extent.

The modem was set up to Slingshots pppoa vpi/vci 0/100.

1155140 2010-11-21 23:50:00 DMZ was added for XBL a while ago, was dropping out before and after.

And it's not just the wireless that was dropping out. The wired PC downstairs goes out the same time as my wireless laptop and the wired xbox if it's going. AKA it drops the internet out for everything running on it.

1155142 2010-11-22 00:41:00 A friend and I (different parts of Christchurch) have had exactly the same experience over the last month or so. We are both Slingshot customers. Occasionally it would take a number of attempts to reconnect to Slingshot. AvonBill (11358)
1155143 2010-11-22 02:30:00 What part of the country are you located in? What plan are you on with Slingshot? What are the ADSL connection details, like SNR / Noise margins? Chilling_Silence (9)
1155144 2010-11-22 02:52:00 Current firmware is 3.104d

Christchurch
Broadband is "Advanced"

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 13079 Kbps 164 Kbps
Attainable Line Rate 16240 Kbps 652 Kbps
Noise Margin 12.2 dB 31.6 dB
Line Attenuation 17.5 dB 7.7 dB
Output Power 19.1 dBm 11.2 dBm

Does that show SNR? No idea what it is.

And it reconnects every time straight after a modem reboot, but will sometimes only last for 10 mins or so before it drops again. But like today I've had no problems at all.

1155145 2010-11-22 04:09:00 Speak with Slingshot and ask for your DSL profile to be adjusted, tell them you're having constant reconnection issues. It'll slow you down a little, could be down to around 11m/bit, but it will hopefully fix things, or at least improve them. Chilling_Silence (9)
