888385 2010-05-26 10:34:00 Hey if you go on private property like a nightclub car park in your car, do you legally have to submit to a breath test by private security guards? It happens here:

www.3news.co.nz

There is a video there too.

They even take your booze.

Can you decline and turn around and go back out again?

888386 2010-05-26 10:49:00 They have every right to take your booze if you take it on their property, I think there's even a law saying they have to. On licensed premises you must buy it there unless otherwise stated hueybot3000 (3646)

I think if you refused a breath test they would not allow you into their carpark.

888389 2010-05-26 19:49:00 Nothing wrong with it... It's private property, they can do whatever they want. If you don't want to be searched by them don't go there. Hell, they give you a free drink for your trouble, so where's the problem?

Edit: This is a very good tactic in, IMO, it's more to combat pre-gaming so you end up spending more there. And they can do it under the guise of safety and whatnot.

I remember being searched every now and then for alcohol in front of the cinema at Highland Park.
They used to have a coin operated breathalizer at SkyCity a few years ago, it was nice to have.

Edit: You're a moron. :)

888391 2010-05-27 05:02:00 Private seurity guards have no more power than you or I.

In most cases they are just glorified bully boys. :(
