| 887721 | 2010-05-24 08:31:00 | I remember hearing about this 2012 prediction on a documentary where a Mayan Indian was interviewed and said it was a load of rubbish (obvious I suppose). Never thought this nutty stuff had got to New Zealand until I just saw some local singer tell the Close Up Paranormal Show that he was going to build a house to protect himself against it. This link sums it up pretty well, no doubt you hippy types will disagree but seriously, why do people buy into this crap? whatadick.posterous.com |

Others just find it so difficult to think for themselves they will believe whatever they are told, Christianity is a prime example, Challenge someone to think about the shape and size of the universe and bang, brain shuts down, mind closes, Simple fool embraces invisible friend instead. |

For those who might be interested there is a good book that explains as much of what is known called 'Fingerprints of the Gods' by Graham Hancock. While I don't personally believe in any sort of supreme being this book actually sets out to prove that our ancestors knew far more than we give them credit for and that modern man started way before scientists think it we did. It actually sets out to disprove the theory of God. So for those with an Open mind it is a good read whether your Christian or Atheist |

| 887730 | 2010-05-24 10:25:00 | There was an interesting doco on the other day about the Mayans & their calendar. The theme was that the start of their last calendar & the end of the cycle before (5200 years ago) was coincident with an apocalyptic weather event. There's some evidence that there was an extremely sudden cooling experienced in a few places around the world at that time (they showed some 5200-year-old plants under an ice sheet in S America that were practically snap-frozen). Hence that Mayans fully expected the same to happen at the end of the next cycle in 2012. I suppose the whole idea is spiced up by all the recent global warming warnings, but possibly the weather is subtly influenced by the cosmic realignment that is coming around for this cycle? Spooky, huh? I'll be sure to have my woolies & my sunnies & togs handy just in case in a couple of years... So naturally the |
