887827	2010-05-25 05:23:00	You mean after Britain and France let Hitler invade Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland and sat back and did nothing even though though at that stage they outnumbered him in the west ! How come the entire British Force at the time, was pushed into Dunkirk, if they outnumbered the Germans!. Most of the German opposition had appeased Hitler and reduced their capability to fight a war in earnest, (peace in our time was the phrase used, Chamberlain). 887829	2010-05-25 09:08:00	The French (and British) outnumbered Hitler in tanks and men by far in 1936 when he re-occupied the Rhineland. And I think they also did in 1939 when he invaded Poland, if they had invaded Germany then instead of waiting 6 months for him to invade them ! Britain and France let Poland down miserable. And on the USA - Roosevelt wanted to declare war on Hitler to help the Allies, but congress did not let him. But they did give Britain lots of ships and weapons at low cost. I agree that Hitlers worst mistake was invading Russia. But it took Russia 3 years to drive him back. But if he had not invaded Russia I don't see how he would have conquered the USA ! he would not have declared war on them once he had Russian living room.	Digby (677)

He had an expert in Mr Guderain who had nutted out a novel attack using JU87 and tanks with an army attack. Hitler attacked Russia which was so dumb just as dumb as the japs attacking the usa. Germany's rearming was in direct contravention of the Treaty of Versailles and the Governments of France and Britain elected to do nothing. Germany was forbidden to have an Air Force but provided Air Power in The Spannish Civil War. The Rhineland was re-occupied, Anschluss occured on 3 March 1938, a defacto annexation of Austria into the third Reich, and 8 days after Britain sent Hitler a Strong "Note of Protest". Chamberlain agreed that The Sudetenland area of the post WW! created Czechoslovakia should be ceded th Germany in 1938( The population was predominently German, and the territory was duly handed over ( Chamberlans famous "Peace in our Time Proclamation). This left Czechoslovakia without any defensible borders. In March 1939, Hitler subsequently Annexed the whole of Czeckoslovakia, dividing the country into a number of German protectorates - Britain and France still did nothing. There can be little doubt that the war in Europe was brought about by the governments of both France and the United Kingdom being determined to avoid war at any cost. Each success gave Hitler an incentive to push a little harder, finally resulting in the declation of war on 3 September 1939. France had relied for its defence on a line of fortifications known as the Maginot Line - they were well prepared and formidable - The German solution was simple, outflank them go round then end and hit the with Blitzkrig tactics. 9 months later the remnants of the British Expeditionary Force were extracted from the beaches of Dunkirk. The seeds of the Second World War in Europe were sewn in the Treaty of Versailles and watered and ferlised by the lack of resolve and moral cowardice of the governments of Britain and France, and the finest of another generation bled to death on the battlefields of Europe. 887833	2010-05-25 12:23:00	According to my authoritative source (Wikipedia) the Germans lost 5.5 million troops in WW 2 combat compared to 382,700 British and 416,800 American casualties. But all this is dwarfed by the 8 - 10 million Russian casualties. Relatively speaking as a proportion of their total army, the Brits got off lightly. So I'm pleased the Americans were in their fighting for the freedom that all too many take for granted today. And I think it is self evident the Russians helped significantly to take the Nazi's down. Of course you are only counting the various troops here by being dead and not the civilians and other collateral damage. They will all survive as they are invincible or think they are. but they wont prove useful at all - they will all get bogged and stuck cause the phat gangsta sacked out automatic Nissan cefiro's they are cruising in will belly out on flat ground - and the other side will just walk round them and carry on - unless the other side are also sending out idiots to fights the wars - then everyone will just sit around with their bonnet up comparing carbon fiber engine oil caps and chrome headlights and telling everyone how they are epic drifters cause they hit some ice one day and didint die in the face :devil	MAC_H8ER (5897)
