You mean after Britain and France let Hitler invade Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland and sat back and did nothing even though though at that stage they outnumbered him in the west ! |

Research the results of the B29 fire bombing raids before saying that. Those raids resulted in more death & destruction. The US had tested the 1st bomb before but the 2nd was untried until dropped. |

Sure some in the [edited] war cabinet were having second thoughts after the fire storm raids and after the first nuke, but they sure didnt get themselves heard well enough did they? The thick buggars had finally worked out that we were quite cool with their wish to die to the last person if they so desired. They sowed the seeds of their own destruction when they bombed up some yanks ships in Hawaii. Only a stupid waxhead history revisionist would feel sorry for these scum. |

"In his memoirs President Dwight D . Eisenhower reports the following reaction when Secretary of War Stimson informed him the atomic bomb would be used: During his recitation of the relevant facts, I had been conscious of a feeling of depression and so I voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives . . . . (See p . 4, Introduction) " . colorado . edu/AmStudies/lewis/2010/atomicdec . htm" target="_blank">www . colorado . edu Most of the top US military had the same opinion . The delay in settling peace terms hinged on whether or not the Japanese would keep their Emperor . "Saturday Review of Literature editor Norman Cousins also later reported that MacArthur told him he saw no military justification for using the atomic bomb, and that "The war might have ended weeks earlier, he said, if the United States had agreed, as it later did anyway, to the retention of the institution of the emperor . " (See p . 351, Chapter 28)" I'd say MacArthur and Eisenhower had a better understanding of the situation than any of us . |

| 887825 | 2010-05-25 04:21:00 | You mean after Britain and France let Hitler invade Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland and sat back and did nothing even though though at that stage they outnumbered him in the west ! yea that's a VERY twisted view. Britain & France threatened Hitler if he invaded Poland they would immediately declare war and they did. The tension steamed from WW1 and what Germany was chartered to pay. Mean while the US profited $$$$ for nearly 3 years before getting dragged in to WW2 after getting utter spanked at Pearl harbor. But got to love all these "US saved the day" hero Hollywood series and films. In "Reality" it was very lucky for all of us Hitler invaded Russia , because without them the US would be speaking German right now, and that i have zero doubt. |
