1155837 2010-11-23 08:36:00 Mozilla Firefox with Adblock Plus = winning combination

How does that block a web site?

K9 is secure. Don't forget the password.

1155838 2010-11-23 09:03:00 The hosts file is fine if the user using the PC has a non-admin account.

In Vista/W7 you can set up parental control and block websites through that.

1155839 2010-11-23 09:31:00 Agree with K9 - you can customize it to allow only certain sites, or block certain sites.

Just a bit of advise about K9's password. Use a different email address to register it. ( work one or something)

Simply because if you use your normal home one, in the event of forgetting the password, or more to the point the person you are trying to stop, hits the "forgot password" option, they will email you a password to bypass yours to unlock it - to the home email you put in.

Sneaky person you are trying to stop gets password and is in.

Had that happen with a customer at 10.30pm one night. ( another story) ;)

1155844 2010-12-01 06:12:00 I have been using K9 Web Protection for while now and find that it does what I want it to do. The only thing is, can I block certain file types such as .dll, .zip etc? QW. (15883)
1155845 2010-12-01 08:40:00 The LeechBlock FF extension might help which is a script blocker - can set day and I think times. There are other similar scripts. kahawai chaser (3545)
