888637 2010-05-27 08:55:00 I gonna buy a motorola milestone XT702 recently. Ive read thru those reviews from customers and still cant decide whether I should buy it in parallel imported shops or not. In fact aftersell service is not a big concern for me as I can beware enough not to break it. The only thing I wonder is : DO THEY EVER SELL REFURBISHED PRODUCTS ? I just wanna have a real imported cellphone and thats all.
So anyone with any opinions on it?:stare:
Cheers

888638 2010-05-27 08:59:00 Dunno about refurbished. I bought all my phones but one or two from the 13yrs as a parallel import (NZ shop or directly overseas). No problems. They are still working now. Should rid them with eDay thou ... Nomad (952)
888639 2010-05-27 09:46:00 If you want a customer service nightmare (if there is a problem), by all means buy from Parallel Imported. Can't comment on other shops that parallel import goods.... johcar (6283)

I really dont care about that. If they sell real imported goods(not refurbished) then the quality can be guaranteed.( They have the same quality as official machines). In fact in my own experiences of using official cellphones they can rarely have faults. They can be used for several yrs without any repair until I change another one.

888641 2010-05-27 12:03:00 My experience wasn't with a phone but with a very well known and respected brand of watch.

Any brand of anything can have duds in the range. And customer service (post-sale) is what sets a good retailer apart from a crap one.

888643 2010-05-27 20:58:00 With expensive cameras (film and digital) and lenses, what I do is get used . I can get $1500US lenses for a steal maybe cos it got discontinued .

I've bought used phones before in NZ and oveseas via eBay . My 6230 still using now on 021 simcard . The 6210 was from Germany still functioning but I forgot my phone's simcard PIN, so it works with my disconnected Vodafone contract simcard - cannot make calls cos I've closed the account down . The moment I put in a prepay simcard it ask for a pin  Tried to brute force it manually but too hard with 8 or 10 digits, can get a cable and unlock it but not worth it - given the phone's value .

My current E75 (Nokia again) was new from a NZ shop (import) . Warranty is 1yr so that's my bet I willing to take .

888644 2010-05-28 00:32:00 Pretty bad customer service at times, but with cellphones being practically disposable these days why not? Gangplank (15719)
888645 2010-05-28 01:31:00 After sales service = 0.

If you can bear with this, go ahead, by all means

888646 2010-05-28 04:16:00 Imports can be a good deal, mine was a 40% off. Depends on your risk take ....

Can always get used.
