1157186 2010-11-28 23:43:00 MB: GA-X58A-UD3R
RAM: Kingston 6GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 (9-9-9-27)
DIMM (Kit of 3) Intel XMP Kingston Code: KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX

BIOS detected memory frequency as 1066 MHZ. Why is it so?

1157187 2010-11-28 23:46:00 Support for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules

Weird... but 1600 isn't in that list.

1157188 2010-11-28 23:54:00 Its probably gone down, since 1600 isnt supported / listed Speedy Gonzales (78)

"KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX" is in the Memory Support List which I downloaded.

1157190 2010-11-29 00:02:00 is it a core iXX cpu ? the onboard memory controller on these sets the speed to a fixed value based on the base clock and multiplier, so unless you plan on fiddling with overclock type settings you're stuck with the standard speed for your cpu dugimodo (138)
1157191 2010-11-29 00:03:00 Change the speed / in the BIOS. Its probably on AUTO Speedy Gonzales (78)
1157192 2010-11-29 00:07:00 Yup. It's the BIOS setting:

Xtreme Memory Profile (XMP) was set to 'Disabled' - changed to Profile1 and has now gained back my lost frequency! It's now detected as 1600 MHz.

1157193 2010-11-29 00:36:00 I think 1333Mhz is the highest JEDEC official DDR3 speed.

After that it's technically out of spec and usually must be chosen in BIOS manually
