1156851 2010-11-26 23:48:00 I have just found a new drive for my old trusty Satellite 1410 (I think) and want to know how can I copy the entire drive over, drivers, system files, everything? nedkelly (9059)
1156852 2010-11-26 23:57:00 Connect the one you want to copy from to a desktop then copy everything, then connect the one you want to a desktop then copy from the hdd to it Speedy Gonzales (78)

1156854 2010-11-27 00:02:00 Manually copying the files might screw something up (and it definitely won't copy the boot sector)

You need to use a drive cloning program like Norton Ghost.

Or you could use the dd command in Linux.

1156855 2010-11-27 00:03:00 Clone it from one drive to the other.

What make are the HDD's ?

Some places have free cloning software, that will make a exact copy from one HDD to the other.

1156858 2010-11-27 02:29:00 This is my old Toshiba laptop running xp pro. Quad boot still going fine. Might be time for an upgrade soon though. nedkelly (9059)
1156859 2010-11-27 02:37:00 I used HDClone to clone my 320 gig hard drive partition onto a 250gig hard drive. ULTRASLOW took a day. Otherwise EASUS partition software is alright. Mr_Olympia (7727)
