1156774 2010-11-26 21:19:00 There are a variety of programs (3d2f.com) that will send an email to the owner of a stolen laptop, giving information that can be used to trace the laptop. Which program is the best?

Adeona (http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/)looks good but it does not work on Win7 and only snaps a photo (of the thief) with Mac laptops.

Thanks for your help.

Please read my post again.
Our laptop is not stolen!

I am simply asking what program is best to use and gave two URLs as examples.
My plan is to install a program, just in case some time in the future a thief gets it.

On the Adeona page, Win7 is not listed, but I may give it a try anyhow because I did not see on the Adeona page that Win7 will NOT work.

I didn't say it was just gave a good example of what can be done. Go back and look at that link and you will find out how.

OK Mike, but my post had the same info as in your link.

Anyhow, I guess no one on PF1 is using such software and cannot recommend one to use.

inphinity - there are a lot of stupid people around, especially thieves; I doubt if they would know how to format a computer or even know what the word means.
