1156679 2010-11-26 02:42:00 Have a client who had the phone call saying their computer is infected and they signed up for a 6 month service agreement with this website www#jarssupport#com (Don't go there ...)

I have told her to ring the bank and change passwords etc and that I will check her computer out.

I know there are plenty of these calls happening in this area at the moment and other company names have been used. I cannot find any scam info about jarssupport though.

1156680 2010-11-26 02:55:00 Did they get infected by going to that site? If they did, I wouldnt post the link Speedy Gonzales (78)
1156681 2010-11-26 08:04:00 Nah been to the link myself and nothin trying to download. It actually looks like a very professional company but it's only a website. They even have a setup.exe file to download which I did only to scan with Nod32 and found nothing and I deleted it.

I didn't mean for a link to come up when I posted though!!

I have the PC here now so will check it out later.

Had 2 other clients ring today with the same thing where one said from Microsoft and another PC Security Company.

1156682 2010-11-26 08:14:00 Front page, one of the pictures has a frame extract from istock vids, almost professional company. The Error Guy (14052)
1156683 2010-11-27 04:35:00 I've just been on the phone with this company and had the same pitch about viruses infecting my pc and software and offering to "renew software protection". I stopped there and said I wanted to check them out further before paying for anything.

I think I'll just tell them no thanks as it just seems iffy to me. Like they may just be trying to get $$ out of suckers?

Ha. I mcould send you one of them. NOD will pass it but it sure isn't innocent. NO antivirus is 100%. Nod is close but even so..........

1156685 2010-12-28 18:23:00 Had the same experience yesterday. Got a name and phone number of the company. Declined participation, as it sounds like a scam. Costs $60. for 6 months service.
Phone number 201-338-6180, somewhere in New York.
I shut down the web-site, removed all their cookies and did a complete system scan. Still clean. Their scan said I had 1522 virus infections. Norton 360 says I have none.

1156686 2011-01-05 05:12:00 This scam seems to be starting up again.

5th January 2011, 17:50, Birkdale, Auckland, New Zealand

Phone call today, when I picked up it started ringing somewhere else then a lady with an Indian accent came on to tell me that her 'technical team' at Jarssupport or Jars Support had detected my computer was infected with multiple malware. When I questioned her about how her team had seen anything on my computer her answer was simply 'on the internet'.

Completely blatant attempt to sell anti-virus services, might be an attempt to steal
passwords, credit cards or other details.

Be careful, and warn your friends (but please don't start another spam email chain lol).

1156687 2011-01-14 02:31:00 Hello,

Have just helped workmate out with this problem he was successfully scammed by this caller yesterday.

He was asked to go to three sites
logmein123.com (Google it, known as a scam)
ammyy.com (a remote file sharing utility)
jarssupport.com (their website apparently)

I removed the file AMMY_Admin.exe in safemode. This is the utility I believe.
The file is installed into the Windows\Prefetch folder.

I am hoping that all traces of this program have gone. I have told him to refrain from any internet usage eg Internet Banking. Im hoping he will not need to reformat his pc but probably is safest.

Sites for reference are as follows;
www.wilderssecurity.com "Ammyy Scam"
social.answers.microsoft.com "logmein123 scam"
pressf1.pcworld.co.nz "logmein123 strangeness"

If you EVER get called out of the blue firstly it is most likely a scam. Google the website instead of typing directly into search bar (they get you to type it via run prompt). Also run internet addons like noscript and do not install programs that you do not trust.

Their scam has been going on for a while now. Give them grief if they call you.
