I hope you get a job Metla but really I do have to wonder. Do you want a sort after job or a sought after job? Nothing about having a passport either even though "most the the work will be based in Australia"

Our Client, Is a leader in the Offshore Drilling Industry in the Australasian region, and are currently looking for people interested in filling entry level positions, and wanting a career in this dynamic and sort after Industry.
Applicants must be highly motivated, and be safety orientated, as safety is an integral part of day to day operations on a rig.
You must also have good written and communication skills, and be able to work with others in a team situation.
Applicants should be able to travel overseas, initially most the the work will be based in Australia

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.

888903 2010-05-28 12:40:00 Don't quite see your point their Sweep (thought that isn't unusual), I'm quite aware of what is written in the advert. If anyone is stupid enough to apply for an off-shore job without a passport then their application would be pretty weak and they would have no chance of getting the job.

As it is that advert will receive hundreds of applications and the chances of getting through the selection process is tiny, That in itself is no reason to not apply.

My point was that the advert was poorly worded.

I commend you for applying. I would think that you have as much chance as anyone and far better than me.

In that case I concur completely.

Though I have seen worse, and even had an interview for a position that was in no way related to the one I applied for (they saved money by running one advert for multiple locations) and the person doing the interviews was having an extended lunch so they pretended someone else was the interviewer to cover for her, and she didn't realise they had fudged the job interview so I was fed a total load of tripe, It was a complete mess.

Then once we got a few things sorted out (like what the job actually was and who was meant to be doing the interview) they initially refused to tell me the pay rate, or the hours, but wanted my signature on a mostly blank sheet so they could do a background/credit/police check on me.

Upon informing them they were a pack of clowns and I would never consider working for an outfit so useless I was informed I was doomed and would never get a better job then what they had on offer.:stare:

Then as I was walking out they asked if they could ring me........

888906 2010-05-28 13:01:00 Metla is a smart guy it's a disgrace he doesn't have a job. The job market is terrible at the moment. zqwerty (97)
888907 2010-05-28 13:04:00 Thanks for the reply Metla.

Drop your CV off and you are lucky to get an interview far less a reply.

888908 2010-05-28 13:52:00 And who here has been talking about playing silly games except for you.

Suggest you read your own posts to determine that.

Please explain what was wrong with my post and what the silly games were.
I am self employed and a few times I have been asked to give someone a job. I haven't been interested for various reasons but one of them being if I spend a lot of time showing someone what to do it is unproductive especially when I know they wouldn't stick at the job for long.
