1157299 2010-11-29 22:31:00 I've got an Asus Eee 701 running Leeenux v4. Works great, but Asus is usually pretty good quality anyway.

Never even seen an MSI netbook, but I would probably buy one, I like the MSI motherboards I've got anyway.

1157300 2010-11-30 08:09:00 I'm currently looking at these: www.playtech.co.nz

www.playtech.co.nz

and

www.extremepc.co.nz ($499 with GST)

I really like the Acer Aspire but cannot upgrade the RAM. The MSI is effectively the same as the Asus but $10 cheaper. Any thoughts?

1157301 2010-11-30 09:37:00 I would be tempted to go with teh MSI.

I bought in some MSI 16" laptops for a customer and they were very nice units.

The MSI netbook being upgradeable to 2GB Ram would be a clincher over the Acer for me (although I have one of the first Acer netbooks with the slightly smaller screen - wish I could upgrade the Ram on that!)

1157302 2010-11-30 18:46:00 The Asus will last longer on a charge, if MSI's U100 is anything to go by, but other than that so far MSI seem to have been doing pretty well with their netbooks - I'd still favour the Assu though.

Also, www.computerlounge.co.nz

If the "fast" bit of your first post is actually important, that's really your best option.

If I can get the extra cash that's what I'll get. If not MSI it is. Thanks everyone.

If you get the 6 cell as against the 3 cell it is a lot better.
