| 1156520 | 2010-11-25 23:08:00 | you're sure that'll work? i'll give it a try anyway. anything to get my data back. thank you As long as your diagnosis that the enclosure's PCB is faulty is correct (and that I understood what you said correctly) and the hard drive itself is OK then it will work. |

| 1156522 | 2010-11-25 23:12:00 | Don't bother trying to get a new PCB for the external enclosure. Just get a new enclosure and put the drive in it. Or just take the drive out of the enclosure and attach it internally to a computer. And if that doesn't work (the HDD itself is dead), you may need to take it to somebody like these guys www.datarecovery.co.nz if you really need the data (can be expensive, I think they'll give you a quote first); also doesn't pay to mess with the HDD after it dies, makes it harder/more expensive to recover the data. |

That would depend on whether you were standing at the kitchen bench, barefoot and pregnant washing dishes while writing on the forum at the same time.... like all women should be :D I will now take shelter in my bombproof bunker :devil |

| 1156526 | 2010-11-26 04:18:00 | :blush:help...i need a replacement PCB for my western digital external but don't know what kind or type of PCB that i need to find. is there like a model number on the circuit board or something? Hi carnation, we bought a WD external hard drive two years ago and it fell over, as it was under guarantee they said that model had a adaptor fault and gave us a new one with a 3 pin adaptor. They even transferred all the data from the old model, using the still good 5 pin they had in store. Don't know whether that helps at this late stage. Lurking. |
