Whenever I VPN into work, my computer tries to direct all my internet traffic through the VPN instead of only addresses on the work network. Is there any way to prevent that?
I run Windows 7 Professional. I connect to a small business server 2003 R2 at work. My IP range is 192.168.1.* & my work uses 172.17.25.* |

What VPN client do you use? I use a Cisco VPN client to connect to a number of our customers' networks and it has the tendency to do exactly that - it even locks you out of your local network!!!! No amount of messing with the local configuration, routing tables, or anything like that seems to have any effect. There's another client I occasionally connect to who uses another VPN product, but it does exactly the same thing. My workaround is to use XP Mode in Windows 7 - i.e. run the VPN inside XP Mode, and run any applications I need to run from inside the virtual machine. |

Go to the properties of the VPN connection, on your Win7 computer, then the Networking tab. From there double-click TCP/IPv4 then click Advanced then uncheck the 'Use default gateway on remote network' box. |
