1157908 2010-12-01 19:43:00 My Dell laptop & my Desk Top have both got exactly the same OS, Windows 7 Professional.
The Desk Top PC is fine, but the Dell is driving me crazy with IE8. Every time I test a web page on it, the notification bar comes up warning me about the evils of ActiveX. These are plain HTML files with no active content. I have tried changing the security settings to no avail!

Begs the question, why does Microsoft use ActiveX if it doesn't approve of it?

1157909 2010-12-01 19:52:00 To change the activeX warnings , Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options. Click on security tab, Click on Custom level and change as you want.

If the PC is not prompting and the laptop is, then I'd be checking to see where the difference is.

Begs the question, why does Microsoft use ActiveX if it doesn't approve of it? Simple: Many places use activeX, not just Microsoft, and not all activeX content is safe - hence the warnings.
