2010-12-01 17:14:00 | Not sure why but I cannot download from my Slingshot email account on this computer. Have set it up in Outlook, Windows Mail, and Thunderbird. All give the same result, I can recieve in all three programs but not send. The out going server setting is correct. i.e. smtp.slingshot.co.nz Outlook went through its Auto set up and failed on outgoing server. Fire wall is not checking outgoing email.

In OL have you got the right server settings: Tools/Account settings/account/more details/advanced/outgoing server ports and encryption? |

2010-12-01 17:52:00 | You say you can't download then you say you can receive ok. I presume the problem is with not being able to send. Who is your internet connection with and is it broadband or dialup.

2010-12-01 18:18:00 | My Mistake. To early in the morning. I can receive emails but cannot send. Outlook has an automatic setup and fails. I check the setup manually and all is correct. This has happened with all three programs. ISP is Telecom.(not my home computer) My account is with Slingshot

2010-12-01 18:20:00 | That's your problem then. You have to use the outgoing server of the ISP you are connect with. Set the Outgoing server to: smtp.xtra.co.nz

2010-12-01 18:32:00 | :thanks:banana:banana: Thanks a bunch Safari:clap:thumbs: No Problem If you are using a laptop and using different ISP connections at times you might want to contact Slingshot and ask them how to setup secure SSL on SMTP This would allow you to use the Slingshot SMTP server regardless whether you are using Telecom or any other ISP at the time.

2010-12-01 22:06:00 | or just use the web based E-mail, works on any ISP. I've abandoned E-mail programs myself due to a personal tendency to check e-mail on multiple machines and also got sick of setting up my E-mai client everytime I re-install windows or change pc's etc.
