| 1106456 | 2010-06-03 21:06:00 | We have a fault in the telephone system after heavy rain. Telecom think it is the street cabling. In this part of Christchurch there are street cables and final distribution is overhead, although our house has underground power & telephone cables. The mystery is that my internet connection from Snap is OK, and we can ring out, but no-one can ring in. Telecom has diverted calls to my wife's cell, I am a luddite without one. Does anyone know why it only works in one direction? | Brucem (8688) | ||

Because they didn't have time to fix it on the day they put up a temp. cable between my house and the connection thingy on the road. They came back a few days later and did a permanent fix. I think the Telecom contractors back then were Downer. :) |

Has been fixed pretty quick both times, but it is annoying. Same symptoms, internet fine, but phone is either dead, or degraded to the point where it's unusable. |

| 1106464 | 2010-06-04 00:09:00 | My ADSL speed which should be 4Mbit drops to 2Mbit due to some fault\problem on the line. A Telecom technician had confirmed that such a drop in speed over such a short distance is not normal but because the line checks out as perfect they won't do anything about it unless it gets worse and something shows up on their line tester. |
