1106420 2010-06-03 09:50:00 Interesting fault has developed on my Sony Bravia KDL46V4000 TV.
Approx. half the digital channels have no picture but have sound.
The rest are fine.

Anyone had this before?

Tried retuning, but no luck.

As always, it is out of warranty by 6 months.:annoyed:

Thanks Jeff.

1106421 2010-06-03 09:58:00 Strange, you'd think all the channels would fail. Maybe antenna\dish issue? Agent_24 (57)
1106422 2010-06-03 10:18:00 I've had similar issues in the past before I replaced my aerial, although mine was picture and no sound - have you tried doing a restore to factory defaults, and then re-tuning? nofam (9009)
1106423 2010-06-03 10:32:00 How old is the TV?
Consumer Guarantees Act say that an Item must last for a reasonable time. If it's only 18 months old then I wouldn't consider that reasonable.

Whoa there, it is likely not a problem with the TV, but a reception problem. I have had that sort of problem before with UHF freeview, and it was solely the reception.

1106425 2010-06-03 11:02:00 I thought it could be an aerial problem but my Panasonic HD recorder is picking up all the digital channels fine.

I am leaning towards it being a fault with the digital tuner.

1106426 2010-06-03 11:19:00 Did you try the reset idea that Nofam suggested?

I agree with Porkster too, if it's only 18 months old (assuming a 12 year warranty) then they should still fix it.

Even if it was 3 years old they should still fix it, in my opinion a TV should be expected to last a lot longer than that as well.

1106427 2010-06-03 11:30:00 Just checked and the errand channels have got their pictures back.

Hopefully it is a one off.

I hate intermittant faults:annoyed:

Also Sony only give a 1 year warranty.

It makes no difference how long Sonys warranty is. Under the Consumer Guarantees you are covered for a "reasonable length of time".

This varies depending on price, quality and usage of the product.
Its a lot more than 1 year or even 2 years for a Sony TV.
The retailer must repair or replace it.

1106429 2010-06-04 00:31:00 "reasonable length of time" good luck with that

In my opinion that is too open to be argued by anyone
