1105908 2010-06-01 22:55:00 My Daikin heat pump system has stopped working, and is giving me a fault code of U4, which according to a chart I found online means
Communication error between indoor unit and outdoor unit, communication error between outdoor unit and BS unitUnfortunately I can't find any more info on what that actually means or what is needed to fix it. Can anyone shed any light? I've got a call into the service people, but it would be good to have some info so I have some chance to tell whether I am being fed a line, and also it looks like they won't be able to come until next week - so I'm going to have a few chilly days. :(

1105909 2010-06-01 23:03:00 We have a Daikin, no idea about the error thou.

We've had ours for some weeks, I would say that they might be a bit noisy, a bit more commercial and a non allergy/wasahable filter? Well at least on ours.

Wear a down jacket, I haven't got a heater in my room yet and I am in Wellington.

1105910 2010-06-01 23:11:00 I have been visiting heat pump sites lately, and one site allows you to submit questions at http://www.aucklandheatpumps.co.nz/ under FAQ's. kahawai chaser (3545)
1105911 2010-06-01 23:18:00 Try new batteries in the remote, check all plugs between units. Look wise. R2x1 (4628)
1105912 2010-06-01 23:46:00 I presume the error code is on the remote. Have you checked the fuse/circuit breaker? Sounds like a power fault. Richard (739)
1105913 2010-06-02 01:11:00 I presume the error code is on the remote. Have you checked the fuse/circuit breaker? Sounds like a power fault.Yes, there is a sequence you can go through to get the code to appear on the remote. There is no circuit breaker tripped on the main house board. AFAIK there is no other fuse/breaker on the unit itself. One of the troubleshooting tips is to turn the power off and on on the main outside unit. Did that, made no difference. Tony (4941)
1105914 2010-06-02 01:13:00 Try new batteries in the remote, check all plugs between units. Look wise.It is definitely not poor batteries on the remote - if only it were that simple. The house has four separate units, and I get the same error code from each remote with each unit. Tony (4941)
1105915 2010-06-02 03:37:00 Have you tried searching Google for a pdf ops manual, e.g. u4 pdf daikin code. Or try docjax (http://www.docjax.com/) supposedly the best pdf search engine. kahawai chaser (3545)
1105916 2010-06-02 04:17:00 Have you tried searching Google for a pdf ops manual, e.g. u4 pdf daikin code. Or try docjax (http://www.docjax.com/) supposedly the best pdf search engine. That docjax link is interesting, but alas all I turned up was various sales and training docs and some high-level operations guides - no actual maintenance manuals. Sigh... Tony (4941)
