1157872 2010-12-02 03:45:00 You only need to backup Data like pics, Docs, Downloaded installs etc. If you use a recovery CD it will wipe all that and repartition as well. Snorkbox (15764)
1157873 2010-12-02 07:15:00 HUZZAH!!!!!

i have fixed my autoplay problem
found this link www.mydigitallife.info

it said to change the reg key "decimal value" to 145.

did that , rebooted and plugged in my external, and hey presto it's working fine now.

thanks for all your help on this one guys.

it appears that vmware can cause this exact issue.

cheers

www.mydigitallife.info

the hexademical value is 91 and the decimal is 145, for vista and W7 anyway

shows the values for others systems

1157878 2010-12-02 09:32:00 Wanna hear something "strange" ---- I found that article just before I went out today on jobs, BUT didn't suggest it, because when I looked there was no key called NoDriveTypeAutoRun on my system here, even did a complete reg search, and I wont suggest making any reg changes unless I look first.

It gets to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\ As highlighted (www.imagef1.net.nz) then stops

Maybe it had to be "broken" first to show it.

Good that its fixed though.
