1106572 2010-06-05 03:47:00 One simple test for car battery is the load start test - Voltage should not drop below 9.6 to 10 v during start. May need a helper and perhaps compare with another car. This document (www3.telus.net) describes simple battery/alternator/cable tests. kahawai chaser (3545)

Perhaps it has a relatively high cold crank rating and high amp hour capacity...

I'll be sure to make sure my next battery is a good big one so it can handle my habits :P

Worth it - I brought one a few months ago, yet the prices have not changed much but guarantees seem to be longer, as Super Cheap store manager told me. My car battery guaranteed for 4 years and has a "colour" charge indicator.

1106577 2010-06-05 05:58:00 Hmm OK. Final test results:

Little round window: Black (according to sticker, Green = Good, Black = Recharge, Clear = Replace)

Water levels: Up to the little plastic bits (which I suspect are a level marker), same level in each cell. No metal visible.

No load voltage: 12.3V
Headlights on voltage: 11.5V
Engine running voltage: 13.8V

For comparison, my mum's 93 Honda Civic (with no problems):

No load voltage: 12.8V
Headlights on voltage: 11.8V
Engine running voltage: 14.3V

just needs charging up thats all. battery is otherwise fine, no need to replace it.

not necessarily. big one may take longer to get flat but it will also take longer to charge up, so it can end up being half flat for a lot longer than a small one.

if your running lots of spotlights/big amps/etc then look at bigger alternator or a separate battery to run the aux gear off.

1106579 2010-06-05 06:10:00 Take your car to a auto electrician and get them to test your battery and then you will know for sure if it is good or bad.

just remember it needs to be fully charged before they can test it.
