My Computer > Select devices with removable storage > right click to bring up properties > Select Autoplay > Select an action or restore defaults.

I think default is autoplay and you may have changed the settings inadvertently.

1157801 2010-12-01 09:51:00 Incidentally I turn Autoplay off for removable devices as you never can be sure what is in autorun.inf that a person may plug into your computer. :) Snorkbox (15764)

So click My Computer in Win 7, right click the removable drive, select open Autoplay.

And what is on the external drive I ask once again?????????????

videos, pictures, various installers, folders, word/excell files etc.
