1107567 2010-06-07 01:45:00 Its the old story -- The more you pay the more you get.

Personally I have only ever once come close to going over our limit, and I download plenty every day with customers Updates etc as well as my own stuff. Have 80GB / month.

1107568 2010-06-07 01:50:00 Yeah the caps here are a joke :(

Its all ways funny to see some American people cry about the proposed 500gb caps, not to mention that they have actual high-speed broadband too.

Even with my new cap of 25GB I bet I'll get pretty close to going over it. TVNZ took one of my fav soaps off, so now I watch the episodes on Youtube!
Son being a gamer will use a lot of that too.

1107569 2010-06-07 02:05:00 That's why I am on Actrix.
They offer a daily cap, so if I exceed it one day, I am back to full speed the next.

And yes the next time you see Paul Reynolds and feel sorry for him and Telecom - don't cos as you all say, we are being ripped off.

That is one reason that two consortia are planning on building a new fibre cable to the USA, so that they can break the Telecom's Southern Cross monopoly - see Friday's Business Herald.

Also that I why I often write to Steve Joyce telling him to not listen to Telecom or Vodaphone with any of their suggestions, as they always result in the consumer being screwed.

But going back to Dialup ! - there's a novel idea, but I think they make more money on dial-up.

1107570 2010-06-07 04:04:00 Anyway my broadband got cheaper a couple of months ago. Actrix increased my cap from 10gb a month to 20gb a month with no price increase.
:)

1107573 2010-06-07 06:23:00 good price, good speed, good service, value for money? goodiesguy (15316)
1107574 2010-06-07 06:38:00 I pay $29.95 for 3GB FS/128k, they been good when I rang them, they are a Wellington ISP. Call centre in NZ. When I switched over from Xnet took a few hrs. Initialised online and they rang me back etc.

Add $10 to get to 10GB.
Add $10 for either and you get FS/FS. I have a ADSL1 router and I get 400kB/sec downloading with Download Accelerator. I think if I test my speed with Speedtest.net (?)
Prices are toll calls to them.

1107575 2010-06-07 07:04:00 So spend the extra $10 and have a 10 Gig cap then. Sweep (90)
1107576 2010-06-07 07:06:00 Yes, but I trying to live without it, most of it has been windows updates. Was going to use this month to test my usage out, then WU got in the way. Only been with the ISP for 2 months. Nomad (952)
