1106384 2010-06-08 21:41:00 Nice....seems a bit empty below the card though.:drool:drool

What should I fill it up with then?
I have a HDD, an optical drive and 8GB. Can't see a need for anything else, and no, not going to have 2 GPUs.

1106385 2010-06-09 00:51:00 Decided to treat myself and bought an ASUS HD5970.

Wouldn't fit. Bugger.
After looking at various offerings chose a Coolermaster Sniper Dragon case.

Loads of room, bit of a puzzle after I undid all the molexs then realised I shouldn't have and attempted to make sense of it all. (They - eventually - connect to an LED switch/fan controller. )

It's lighting is a bit disappointing - needs more, but at least it's roomy and has some nice cable hiding features.

And PSU goes at the bottom, lovely.

I decided against the Renaissance job (no Metla not just cause of the Mac thing) so have plenty of time for hardware at the mo........

Please tell me you have got a bigger screen than the 19WS you wasted the 4780x2 on!

The answer's obvious; an FPGA development board!

I have a VX1940W. However, resolution isn't the be all and end all. I'd much rather have full effects then low effects and a high res.

Of course, both is good, but little bitty squitty writing and suinting at the screen does nothing for my enjoyment.

Sorry mate, but that card with a 19inch monitor is like having a v8 with wheel barrel wheels and you know it! . . . . LOL . What CPU do you have with it?

The 19" has a resolution of 1680 x1050. That's not enough for you? Whatever, I sure don't care, my criteria is a reasonable resolution with all the effects in games full maxed out.

The CPU is a Core i5 750.

Well, I thought the res was 14x9 TBH, however even 16x10 isnt going to tax that card, it is made for 25x16 resolutions.....I just cant understand why you didnt just get a 5870 and spend the rest on a SSD, or just save it.....honestly, the FPS between the 2 wouldnt be noticed at that res even with all the candy turned up!......
However, I do agree that 16x10 is a reasonable resolution.....if I wanted more, I would just get another rather than buy bigger!

1106392 2010-06-11 06:19:00 Why do you need such a high res on a 19" monitor? Greven (91)
1106393 2010-06-11 20:49:00 I don't. It's just what it has. It's HD, another wasted feature for me I guess.
Solmeister, I like high end cards. SSD, nah........
