1158646 2010-12-04 04:27:00 I currently have a 8600GT, which does the job but I've just started playing CoD - Black Ops and gameplay is jerky on anything more than 1024x768. I suspect it's the video card holding things back. There are 3 cards I'm looking at...

EAH4850/HTDI/1G ( www.asus.com)

ENGTS450 DirectCU TOP/DI/1GD5 ( www.asus.com)

ENGTS450 DirectCU/DI/1GD5 (www.asus.com)

I'm leaning towards the ENGTS450 DirectCU TOP/DI/1GD5.

Any opinions on this please?

Budget is about NZ$250

Thanks,

1158648 2010-12-04 04:56:00 The NV GTX450 is current generation where the ATI 4850 is 2 generations old!....No brainer really! SolMiester (139)
1158649 2010-12-04 09:20:00 I would recommend the nVidia card, definitely.

HD5770 is good too, but you'll probably end up with software issues.

Software issues? How so? You're referring to Windows errors or other application errors?

Thanks,

Total BS, 95% of driver issues are with Crossfire, nVidia's SLI implementation is superiour but for single card setups "driver issues" should not be the deciding factor.

ATI has made massive improvements in crossfire in the last 6 months.

You should at least consider going for last gen hardware to get DX11 support, like a 5770 or GTX450 (which is 1 generation old BTW)

The GTS450 is CURRENT generation Fermi, DX11, and quicker than anything listed above!
