| 1158505 | 2010-12-04 05:23:00 | Just to clarify some things here.... The organisation on a whole is a very good organisation to deal with, and this is my step in. There is one dissenting voice lower down in the ranks who is trying to appear more I.T. literate than I know him to be - and also who I suspect has his toes being stood on by me doing this. This exercise is so that when I go to his superiors, I have all the figures ready that justifies my expenses, and will hopefully shut him up by proving that qualified people who know what they are doing charge more than whatever he accepts. Its when it all turns pear shaped, or a meltdown happens is when it really shows what a person knows, or if they dont know the answer, how to sort out the problem in the best possible way, usually with as little disruption to others. Theres one place I do work for ------they have 6 staff, trying to sync them all so I can turn off their server or kill the network/LAN for a few minutes with out causing a riot is murder --- Hence I have remote desktop to all PC's and server, so at least there's some work I can do after normal hours when they all have gone home ;) |

And no names by request!!In answer to your question, I will say this: Considering that all 3 quoters were geographically spread out, and given that each area would have different rates/margins dependent on their competitors, all 3 are pretty close. Compared to mine, it appears I am way undercharging - but I put that down to experience. The other 3 have been in the business quite some time, I am still a relative newbie |
