1107998 2010-06-08 06:46:00 you missed some silly game thing that apple added. Sounds alot like the silly bleep bloop achievement thingy on xbox 360. This should come up when you start up the game thing. (achievements.schrankmonster.de) icow (15313)

Heck I forgot I was doing that! It's still in my drafts... I'll post back when I've finished :D

Now, I just sent this to a mac-fanatic friend who read this thread:
It's interesting how a manufacturer (Google) who's had no experience with Hardware can come out with their first device which is still on-par as an experienced manufacturer who's been doing it for decades, and specifically their 4th iteration of the specific device:

What we're also going to find with Cellphones, as with PC's, as there's a level where they plateau and there's little reason to increase the speed for 95% of users. Why have a Core i7 when all you do is browse Facebook and email, then you literally have no difference with a quad-core 3Ghz vs a 2Ghz Dual-core. Same for RAM. 2GB vs 8GB?

We're starting to reach that flatline with mobile devices already, and as robsonde mentioned, the cool stuff is happening in the OS / apps now:

150 seconds of your time, until he's sent the second link to the phone. Awesome comments ;)
Better still, keep watching until 16:05 and they show you the iPad!
Or even better, they show you the iPad again if you keep watching until 18:45 :D

Don't get me wrong, those are all very good things to have in a device! Specifically these things that Android devices like the Nexus One doesn't yet have:
the OS upgrade gets you:
* ipod control from within any application.

the hardware upgrade gets you:
* front camera.
* higher resolution screen. (Marginally better on the iPhone, but still a 1-up)
* 802.11-N support. (Only 2.4Ghz but still, it's a 1-up again)
* gyroscope.

Don't get me wrong, I'm impressed, and you've gotta admit that the iPhone 4 is damn sexy, like really hot! However, it's more of a catch-up or a "keep-up" release.
Video calling wasn't on your list, but again it's nothing new ;)

Is the N1 just a rebadged HTC of some sort? From people a I know with earlier android phones( pre 2.0) is that they are sluggish as hell and that there is no OS upgrade too 2.1 let alone 2.2. I would be happy with either a iphone or N1. but try and justify that too the mrs.
Video chat wifi only is a bit of a low point. It was said this was due to carrier issues. From that I have worked out that data in the US is cheaper then making voice calls, so the likes of AT&T don't want their profits skimmed

1108002 2010-06-08 07:25:00 Is the N1 just a rebadged HTC of some sort?The N1 *is* an HTC phone, and it's not rebadged. The design was worked on by HTC and Google jointly, and the phone is branded by both companies. Erayd (23)

Same here. But you will never see the Evo 4G here in it's present form as it CDMA and Telecom won't allow you to connect it and the Nexus 1 is nice but will soon be vintage over taken by all the new Android models.

In day two of the IO conference they probably poke fun at them a dozen times in the mobile space alone. Then again, most of their jibes are relatively on the mark...

There's not much point waiting for the next great thing, as there's always something better just around the corner - eventually you have to stop fence-sitting and just pick one :p.

I am a very happy Nexus One owner (got mine beginning of March) :thumbs:.

1108007 2010-06-08 10:45:00 True, not to mention the same thing will happen with Phone hardware flattening out as with desktop hardware. There will be requirements for 90% of the device use, then there's gonna be the additional 10% which extreme users will want (Such as gaming enthusiasts). Chilling_Silence (9)
