FinePix S2000HD

I don't want an SLR, wouldn't use the features. WOuldn't even use half of these but I like the:

Anti-shake
Higher MP (Than my current 3.2)
Range although reviews I read said pic quality suffered when doing at the limits of it's range

I like "real" cameras as opposed to dinky little point and shoots, husband does occasionally play with the manual modes for pics.....

This is CHEAP too which is why I thought of this one......$349

1109721 2010-06-13 05:02:00 I have an older Finepix S5600 and it's a great camera does everything I want it to 10X optical Zoom and no stupid rechargeable battery pack it takes 4 AA's and I just use rechargeable AA'S.

In my opinion the FinePix S camera's are excellent quality and offer great value for money

Review Title Good value for money

Pros Great value for money. I paid cash and got the camera plus four batteries and a charger for not much over $500 (Noel Leeming). By registering my purchase online I also got, free, a pack of extras that included a very nice camera bag, some DVDs, and a whizz-bang USB-stick with a slot in it for the SD card. This means that downloading photos is very easy, doesn't use battery life, and means you don't have to carry around a cord. Image stabilisation is excellent, especially for those zoomed-in shots. I also really like the quality of black and white photos, which always look just that bit more arty. Changing between black and white and colour is very easy.

Cons I think the quality of the photos is not quite as good as my much older Pentax Optio 555, which saves photos as TIFF files. The 2000HD only saves files as JPEGs.
General Comments For the keen amateur photographer, this is a great camera, particularly because of the big zoom capability. Not up to the quality required of professional applications, though.

Review Title Great Value

Pros Good price, $328 in Dec 2009 online from Expert Infotech Ltd.

General Comments Excellent optical zoom and plenty of features. Nice big screen Very happy with photos.

1109724 2010-06-13 07:04:00 I have the S1500 and very pleased.

The rate that one can take pics is a bit slow.

1109725 2010-06-13 07:22:00 I'll put it this way: the S2000HD could be described as a "dinky little point and shoot" with some zoom which has been made to look like a "real" camera for people who don't know much about cameras :( Some of the S series cameras are very good. Others should ideally be kept clear of.

The S200EXR, S6000fd aka S6500fd and the S100fs are the best S zoom models:

I had one of these and loved it! Had being the word until an unfortunate incident where the camera impacted on concreate landing on the worse place possible..the master switch (only description can think of). I now have a S9600 looks like a real camera and feels like a real SLR. Only problem is because of the build quialty it is bulky compared to some more modern cameras.

As a second camera I picked up a Canon A480 which has 10 megapixels with a 4GB card. What surprised me is that camera is just as good if not beeter (well 2 more mega pixels and 3GBs its getting there) the drawback is no view finder.

When I broke my S5600 the insurance company offered me a slightly better spec and small version (sorry can not remeber the model number) in my view it was to small to handle and designed for a childs hand. Hence I settled with the S9600.

Would agree with earlier comments the finepix s cameras are good value for money. Just depends really on what you really want and can use out of one.

Hmmm. But I'm not a photographer.
And the price of those are considerably higher.

1109728 2010-06-13 20:57:00 i understand the Fuji S series is not bad from a consumer point of view.

if you look at a holiday vacation at a professional photographers point of view, they tend to like the Canon G series G5 or G6 if I am not mistaken.

1109729 2010-06-14 05:03:00 Canon are good consumer grade cameras in my experience.
They can be given a huge number of extra features with CHDK.
