Listen carefully and you will find it is not uncommon for New Zealanders to pronounce th as f, as do Londoners and Cockneys in particular....norf instead of north, bruvver instead of brother, called th fronting. Hence Cafferine maybe.

1110879 2010-06-18 06:19:00 I can pick up the accent of poms who have been here for 50 years and came out here as kids .

I have recently had a couple of people ask me where I was originally from . I was born in England but emigrated to NZ just before my second birthday so as far as I am concerned I am a Kiwi and speak like one .

Both people were from England themselves and picked up on a slight pommy accent . Never knew I had one . :stare:

Jamuz, don't try losing your accent, just concentrate on being understood and maybe get some professional help with this if necessary .

1110880 2010-06-18 06:29:00 Apparently women find Italian accent funny, Indian accent funny, Asian accent non-understandable. Can anyone teach me how to speak in an Italian accent? :D qazwsxokmijn (102)
1110881 2010-06-18 06:52:00 And an additional side note, I have been attending the University's English conversation class every week. The tutor does not hesitate to point out verbal errors committed in conversations (which is a good thing!) Renmoo (66)

Probably not the accent . more likely the use of English phrases that your parents use and you picked up and use without realising .
