1161367 2010-12-13 06:20:00 HELP!
I cant start a new thread on pf1 mobile. Can someone recommend me a modular psu please, ive got an antec 300 case and looking at a 6-core AMD setup, maybe a tb hdd + intel ssd and a good graphics card but not rediculously good. Im after a reliable brand with enough wattage to power it all (how much do I need?). Budget around $100. Cheers

1161368 2010-12-13 06:45:00 You are going to have to double your budget to get what I would recommend which would be a Corsair HX Series 550W or 650W. Snorkbox (15764)

Wow ok, would non-modular be cheaper? What other similar ones would you recomend for $200?

1161371 2010-12-13 07:16:00 I would look at Corsair or Enermax.

Non modular is generally cheaper but it's good to have nice tidy cables. :)

1161372 2010-12-13 07:22:00 Corsair HX-650 or TX-650 are about $180 and $170 respectively, the $10 difference is modular/nonmodular. inphinity (7274)
1161373 2010-12-13 07:23:00 Ok I do want tidy cables but the antec 300 has some sort of cable organising thing. I can use ties for unused cables.
So whats a good non modular psu?

I have the Antec 300. You can tidy up your cables pretty well by threading them through the back - but it's a LOT easier with a modular PSU.

I'm using a Corsair 520HX Modular - OC'd Q660, GTX 260, 3 HDD and usual USB peripherals. Doesn't miss a beat.

This will do you very nicely

Next upgrade, it's what I'd be looking at.
