2010-12-12 22:39:00 | Hi, I have recently migrated my raid from 7x1tb drives to 5x2tb drives on my Adaptec 4805 raid card. system: win 7 home premium 64bit adaptec 4805sas 6gb ram Everything was working fine (previously setup on my old win 7 box) blew the old array away fitted the new drives then went into Adaptec storage manager (ASM) to configure the new array only to find that the controller wasnt "present" Windows can see it in device manager. the Adaptec bios doesnt recognize it. I have tried- uninstalling it from device manager reflashing the bios shifting slots reloading with the same and an older version of Adaptec Storage Manager Im out of ideas and really need the array up and going. Anyone...? Thanks

2010-12-12 22:57:00 | So, to confirm, Windows 7 sees the Raid controller in device manager, no explanation mark next to the device, I gather 7 is installed on another drive. You start up ASM and it doesnt see the controller. Have you used the configuration wizard to search for a new controller? What do you mean 'the Adaptec bios doesnt recognize it.'...Have you flashed the Adaptec Controller BIOS, what version are you on?

2010-12-12 23:14:00 | Since my understanding of your post is that the issue arose when you swapped the drives attached to the controller, what happens if you put the old drive(s) back on? | inphinity (7274) | |
2010-12-12 23:16:00 | Does this controller support 2TB SATA drives? | SolMiester (139) | |
2010-12-12 23:21:00 | I have flashed to an earlier version on the card BIOS and then back to the latest version. (no change) Device manager - No red X , no exclamation mark (uninstalled and reinstalled just to be sure) OS is installed on a different drive to the array (thank god) Not sure about how to use the configuration wizard to search for a new controller... Adaptec BIOS doesnt detect any of the drives, doesnt detect the controller Cant reinstall the 1tb drives because they are currently holding my only copy of data :groan:

2010-12-13 00:05:00 | no, the bios doesnt detect the controller or drives from the create/manage arrays menu. | 12steps (14778) | |
2010-12-13 00:22:00 | no, the bios doesnt detect the controller or drives from the create/manage arrays menu. ??, the PC BIOS doesnt detect the controller? but Windows 7 does?....dont you mean the Adaptec BIOS doesnt detect the drives?!..which I would say is due to 2TB drives NOT being on the compatibility report... If you cant get the adaptec BIOS to see the drives, there is no way Windows 7 will.....
