1113134 2010-06-24 10:42:00 Haha yea it WAS a big deal lol. Just probably didn't interest anyone on this forum. xyz823 (13649)
1113135 2010-06-24 10:43:00 Not really. People have had to swallow two new models of the DS recently, I doubt they're going to want to instantly jump into a 3rd, especially considering the fact that it costs MORE than a full home console does now.
While it's cool that 3d is coming around, people haven't even finished digesting high definition yet. We're still seeing hd-ready tv's and are having badly upscaled content delivered to us for maybe 20 hours a week. While 3d is pretty revolutionary, for a fair few people the novelty of it might wear off pretty quick once they realise they spent $500 on a little DS that does everything their previous $350 DS does but occasionally spits out a 3d image.

You completely failed to grasp why its a big deal.

hint-It has nothing to do with prior models of the DS

1113137 2010-06-24 10:49:00 Waits for the other guy to come in and say Nintendo 3D doesn't count as they aren't hardcore enough. Metla (12)
1113138 2010-06-24 11:21:00 I do gather that it's 3d without glasses. Cool. But my points remain valid. People aren't really ready for 3d. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1113139 2010-06-24 11:32:00 The shops sell TV's constantly no matter what the latest "thing" is, It simply means the buyer has the option of the latest tech if they want it.Anyone buying a new TV from this point on has the option of 3D. Though I believe once it kicks in the uptake will be staggering.

Anyhow, The tech is obviously a lot further along then I would have thought and I'm sure the TV companies wouldn't want people to know about what they aren't yet selling.

It may well be content generated by media devices that drives forward the tech rather then broadcasting, and it will be interesting when the PC goes 3D, I'm wondering what a simple photograph will look like.

(Hint-Its not about the DS, That will be a footnote but not the bigger picture )

1113140 2010-06-24 12:22:00 Nvidia has just released their 3d vision tech, although you do need the glasses for it.
Not really that revolutionary yet. If you want to see what it'll be like in the future, look at sci fi and dystopic sci fi. Bladerunner, minority report, etc, all feature technology theorised then and realised now. I don't think it's really revolutionised anything yet because while it is available it isn't so different to anything now in a format that is available to the masses.
When something comes along that hasn't been seen before but is almost instantly produced worldwide in numerous outlets, then I think it'll shift. Like with hi-def content, it's steadily getting more and more advanced people are just shifting with the tide of technology. It's not like it's brilliance in a box, it's just a bit more brilliance than before.

I don't know, I'm sure you think I'm missing the point entirely but while I'm keen on 3d, unless I can get setup with everything I need for less than the price of my left foot, I'm just not that interested and I'm sure many others feel the same way. And by the time I DO get into it, it'll be yesterday's news anyway.
