coldfront should front up and say where his examples are coming from. 200 tickets for 1kph over the limit would be national news especially so soon after the Police had a get tough campaign of ticketing anyone doing more than 4kph more than the limit.

Would it? The point made was that 200 out of 2000 drivers were caught exceeding that limit. How many actually were sent a ticket will probably be never known. The point was that a ticket could be issued and has been issued. Not everything becomes a headline!

1113305 2010-06-25 05:39:00 What a stupid statement. Sweep's admitted to 1 mistake and you're coming to conclusions without knowing how many years and what distance travelled.

Same as his conclussion re not ever speeding.

1113306 2010-06-25 05:42:00 My driving focus was taught to drive responsibly and thats my ongoing focus! Cellphone distraction was until the law passed as being acceptable even now people (mainly employers)expect me to answer my phone while drivng to which I have said I will not do. The challenge to keep the correct distance by counting off those two seconds is an art that people have commented on to me. I dont take chances yet because one accidently drifts over the speedlimit for a brief period you are automatically labelled a reckless driver. :badpc:

1- Get a hands free kit.
2- Are you lance4k and is this a troll thread?

1113307 2010-06-25 05:42:00 You can't do anything against people who don't know they are speeding.
Say I drive past a speed camera at 120, with my speedo doing 100.
A month later when I do get my ticket, I will think "damn, I was probably speeding." and I'd pay it. There is no way for me to prove or know that I was speeding at the time.

^Sweep, done for seatbelts?
I guess you would have been snapped by a cop? That's different. There is a big difference between getting snapped then and there by a human being than getting a mail three weeks later, don't you think?

There must be a way to prove speed in conjunction with the speed camera data. I'm not sure if you are referring to a faulty speedo?

Drivers were caught about the speed limit, according to you, which make sense. How do you know that those doing 1km/h were issued tickets?

Yes, I am referring to the inconsistent speedo readings. But that's a simple fix, get them tested every time they go in for a WOF.

I have not seen speed camera photo, so I can't commend on that. But I assume they have a speed, date, time and your car on it, right?
In which case you can argue that you were driving, or have an excuse for speeding (medical emergence or some such).

Why get a handsfree set? Nothing is that urgent they can not ring back or leave a messege.

and No I am not

A speedcamera in the Central North Island is reported to have recorded in a 4 1/2 hour shift 2000 cars of which 200 of them were ticketed for speeds exceeding the speedlimit by 1kph. That is 1 in 10 vehicles.

Lowest speed I found out was ticketed for 2kph over the limit makes sense to assume the Police were adopting zero tolerance which is a $30 fine for speeds of 1-10kph over the posted speed limit, $80 for those 11-15kph etc.

Why do you think I am questioning the policy given we have been lead by media reporting to believe in a tolerance level?
