| 1160850 | 2010-12-20 00:21:00 | you dont go in circles because the data is in circles and you dont want scratches running in the same direction. A scratch at right angles to the data only causes a momentary error usually correctable. There are many commercial solutions for removing scratches and all work to some degree, if the disk is really bad and you have nothing to lose any really fine abrasive polish can work - brasso for instance! I had a music CD with a really bad and obvious scracth that prevented 3 tracks from playing, polishing machines etc didn't work and the disk was toast so in the end I just got brutal with a cloth and some Jiff ..... It now plays fine. |

| 1160853 | 2010-12-21 01:05:00 | Sorry, I didn't mean cleaning in that sense, I meant "cleaning" as in removing weird protection schemes or de-protecting. I have no evidence to suggest there is a problem with the surface given that CloneDVD can produce a replica happily. |

| 1160855 | 2010-12-21 03:08:00 | DVD49 will remove regions. Otherwise, I think you may be up for some real $$$$$ to accomplish what you are after. DVDFab and 1ClickCopy are 2 great copy programmes :) |

CloneDVD is a very nice program, but I use DVD Decrypter if I do anything with DVDs (since it's free) Just make sure you don't allow it to connect to the Internet ;) |
