1113284 2010-06-25 04:30:00 Ok so 2kph thats what one person was issued a notice for! At $30 would you challenge that?

link?

And if there is a link I assume it was mocked a little :P

The prosecution has to prove the matter.

1113286 2010-06-25 04:31:00 You could randomly take snapshots of a thousand people, tell them they were 2km over the limit charge them 30 - no one will question it. They'll just pay up. They'll all assume that it was true.
Crap happens, aye bro?

That much is true until someone does challenge it, problem is who can remember something like that two or three weeks previous? Especially if it is out of character with the person standard of driving? Then how do you prove otherwise?

1113287 2010-06-25 04:33:00 The speed limit is a limit and not a target. If people are all that concerned they can put the vehicle on a dyno and get a certificate. Then they can produce cert in court when they defend a speeding matter.

Reality is who is going to spend out taking time off work etc to defend against a $30 penalty that they may or may not be aware of?

1113288 2010-06-25 04:39:00 @ coldfront.

Maybe 1 in 10 were caught out because 1 in 10 were over the speed limit.

Maybe so just goes to prove how common it happens!

Does not prove though that those caught were or do deliberatly travel above the speedlimit on the entire journey. I wonder how many of those caught had accident free records?

There are some things that are not on the internet like the hard copies of the notice for one.
You wont find the Speed camera log on the internet either.

Any chance you have a photo of said log?
Because as much as I hate policing for funds, and agree with you. I simply ca...

I just realised something. You saw a speed camera log, right?
Just because said people were caught speeding 1-2-3km/h over the limit does not actually mean that they will be fined. I assume speed cameras would catch everyone over the limit and then someone would go through the pictures and find relevant usable ones (ie no cars side by side, 4km/h exceptions, bad photos, etc) and send out tickets to them rather than everyone actually caught.

In which case I think it's alright.

I don't think your certificate matters in court, the only one that counts is the one the police have .

coldfront should front up and say where his examples are coming from . 200 tickets for 1kph over the limit would be national news especially so soon after the Police had a get tough campaign of ticketing anyone doing more than 4kph more than the limit .
