1160830 2010-12-13 01:33:00 I think I vaguely remember that, more about getting things converted for mobile devices. Shame, really. Finackles (15646)
1160831 2010-12-13 01:47:00 Why not spend some $$$$ and purchase a copy of DVDFab or DVDProCopy? :) Zippity (58)
1160832 2010-12-13 03:45:00 Have you used either? If yes, do they do the job?
I have seen DVDFab around, but web sites I see it on seem inherently dubious and I am not convinced I want to throw my credit card details at them.

1160833 2010-12-13 03:59:00 Yes, yes and yes :)

I have both.

1160834 2010-12-13 04:39:00 Just make sure you buy from the official site and not some dodgy one. Agent_24 (57)
1160835 2010-12-13 05:03:00 www.dvdfab.com/ and http: respectively.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong name - 1ClickDVDCopyPro

1160836 2010-12-13 20:47:00 getting back to the thread - the enterprise at hand even - what software have you been using?
If its just the one episode you may be able to, shock- horror, Torrent an AVI

1160837 2010-12-13 21:03:00 Probably will be bad quality

Have you tried DVD Decrypter?

1160838 2010-12-13 23:42:00 Seems Handbrake no longer has the option to convert to .avi. Their forum (trac.handbrake.fr)

-- just looked and only supports mp4 and MKV outputs

Correct, something about broken container code that hadn't been maintained in years if memory serves me correctly. Still, you can encode to a DivX-compatible format using ffmpeg, but just in an MP4 or MKV container.

Still, he said at the start he wanted to do it in the highest quality, so most players that support h.264 will also support the MP4 container format, and a many more are beginning to support the Matroska container.

I do h.264 video, aac audio in an MP4 container personally :)

1160839 2010-12-14 20:00:00 I am now not sure what to think.
I tried the original disk with AutoGK, and Winx DVD Platinum 5.9. Winx actually crashes on the original disk. AutoGK managed to build the AVIs, on two passes, but neither had sound.
I am trying AutoGK again, on copy of the DVD with all sound tracks on it. This disk is different from all the others in that the French soundtrack is #1, Italiano is #2, and English is #3. The rest have English first. Not sure if that makes any difference.
It seems that Winx DVD does have some issues, but I have created the AVIs from ISO images of the disk, just without sound.
I need some way of cleaning the disk, may dvdshrink is worth a go, or dvd decrypter.
