1112101 2010-06-21 12:17:00 I use to see wedges and axes, etc at wood chopping competitions around BOP district, and also at forestry plantations and mills when I worked for Carter Holt. If not available in retail stores - best bet would be to contact (i.e. email) NZ forestry companies for local suppliers. Try this index (www.indexnz.com) of NZ Forestry companies. kahawai chaser (3545)
1112102 2010-06-21 12:18:00 I rather liked this one:

Great tool, but it seems kinda pointless mounting it on the end of a bobcat.

I would think it's worthwhile if you are selling firewood for a living.

1112104 2010-06-21 12:44:00 We have a heat pump now, very nice and easy.

Agreed. Possibly the OP want's to mount said wedge on a mechanical wood splitter and his wants or needs are totally different to mine.

I live in Tokoroa and you can pick up wood free.

Apparently some heat pumps may die due to corrosion, misuse or other reasons.

Personally I will wait until the OP gets back and explains more.

1112105 2010-06-21 12:57:00 Young chap from Karamea, world champion!
(I know it says he's from Hokitika, but they're as bad as the Aussies, he was born and raised in Karamea)

And posted with no disrespect to the Karamea I might add.

Perhaps you should ask her then. She should know the answer I suspect. Get her breakfast in bed before you ask is my advice. :waughh:

1112109 2010-06-21 20:19:00 I'm so pleased I don't use indoor heating fuelled by wood any more. I don't have to keep firewood dry. I don't have to go outside to get the firewood. I don't have to collect, split, stack said firewood. I don't have to keep my chainsaw sharp and in fact I sold it. I don't have to dispose of ash left in the wood burner. I don't have to have a trailer to transport firewood so I sold that too which saves on Reg and WOF. The firewood was free so all I had to do was the above tasks.

About the only thing I miss was the sound of very hot water landing on the roof as there was a wetback in the wood burner. Not having to get a chimney sweep in was a plus as well now that I think about it.

I now live in a Pensioner flat which has no wood burner but is insulated top and bottom. All electric here. My one and only heater is a 1500w bar heater in the Lounge.

But what about the Power bill I hear you ask even though you didn't.

Got one for $73.28 on the 18th June 2010. This does include my prompt payment discount.

And no sex in front of the fire.

Nothing stopping me at all. I can still light a fire outdoors anytime night or day.
