1113344 2010-06-26 02:08:00 After about 12 years of having a Radar Detector/s ,you stick to the speed limit because even with a detector you can still end up losing your licence as they target people or target area's where people speed (hills/passing lanes) in rural areas, schools etc in urban areas
Everyone thinks they drive around all the time with their Radar operational but they don't
As with the new "K" Band Radar camera's,even top of the line detectors are left wanting as there is very little warning

Although recently the covert tactics of what looks obvious in the past is a bit harder to spot. Got no qualms with a marked or unmarked Police Car or traffic cop sitting at the side of the road with a ray gun pointing at traffic or the fixed camera boxes at the side of the road. Just this tactic of covert photography in areas where there is a high probability of someone drifting over the limit because of terrain but sighting some excuse to justify the cameras location.
Some say signage does not work yet go to the UK or Europe and there is practically on every other lampost in the urban areas a reminder of the speedlimit yet this country No reminders beyond entering or leaving an area exist.

So what happens to this money gathered from the Speed Camera Vans? Do they really stop accidents from happening or just the speed of impact?

Yes there have been several times when I have been concentrating on something else and then realised I had just passed a speed sign.
