2010-06-25 00:41:00 | www.stuff.co.nz I note that Southern Cross say that this venture will not be profitable. Well they would say that wouldn't they?

2010-06-25 01:05:00 | Its abit like here in Napier. They are going to extend the airports runway to cater for jets from the likes of Pacific Blue and Jetstar but ANZ say it won't be profitable. They would because at the moment they have no competition using Dash 8 and ATR 72 aircraft. :)

If I had some dosh, I'd certainly be investing in it, but sadly I'm missing about six 0's from the end of my bank balance before I'm in a position to invest :p I fail to see why they would have no users either, simply provide it at a cheaper rate than the SCC and watch the users roll in! Excellent that they're thinking of stopping off in other countries as well, linking them all the more. Great to hear! |

2010-06-26 00:39:00 | Yea very nice to hear this is not fading away. SC saying it wont be profitable. Kinda amusing I don't believe we will see much movement early on in data charges, but looking medium to long term this is great for consumers and NZ in general.

2010-06-26 01:13:00 | One wonders how many shares Telecom will buy. They do own 50% of Southern Cross. | Sweep (90) | |
2010-06-26 01:15:00 | What do they do hire a ship with a big reel of fibre optic cable and lay in the seabed from usa to Nouvelle Zealande? Is it one run, does it have boosters, does it come ashore in the islands? | prefect (6291) | |
2010-06-26 01:19:00 | Nope. They dig holes in the seabed which the Maori own and put totem poles up and attach the cable. We can't have the fibre getting wet.
