1162938 2010-12-18 00:55:00 For example, trying to download this Youtube downloader plugin, addons.mozilla.org

It won't work if I try directly, but works perfectly if I download through Megaproxy.

I'm on Telecom - anyone else getting problems like this?

1162939 2010-12-18 01:15:00 Yep, one in particular, Adblock Plus --- Errors every time - tried manually updating it as well, but nope.

There was one other, failed 4 times in a row, then a day or so later went OK, cant remember what it was though.

Have you tried Web Video Downloader (http://www.web-video-downloader.com/) - from Sothink.

1162940 2010-12-18 01:25:00 Try opera 11. Since its now final. And it supports extensions. It might do a better job. If you want to block ads use adsweep (the noads extn is crap, it does zilch). I got rid of FF 2-3 weeks ago. It doesnt work properly with some sites, inc this site. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1162941 2010-12-18 01:35:00 Yeah this isn't really about the browser itself, rather why I can't download the file without using a proxy site such as Megaproxy.

I can't even download the file with Wget, for example:

agent24@INTEL3333:~$ wget addons.mozilla.org

1162942 2010-12-18 01:51:00 Only way to fix that dont use the proxy. Cant do much if it blocks it. Can you add urls to it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1162943 2010-12-18 02:17:00 Uhh... can you please actually read my posts before you reply to them?

It only works WITH the proxy.

1162944 2010-12-18 02:30:00 Well something else is screwed then Speedy Gonzales (78)
1162945 2010-12-18 02:45:00 Give the One I tried in #2 a shot - it doesn't need a proxy and it will grab video clips from just about any site, not just youtube.

Something a bit "strange" happening if you have to use a proxy for downloading with the plug in -- I assume during normal surfing, downloads, you are not having to use any proxy ?

Edited:

Just installed that down loader as you linked into FF and it worked perfectly on Youtube only-- Its not the program that's faulty, there is some setting/restrictions on your PC by the looks.

I don't need to use a proxy to download the video, I had to use the proxy to get the add-on to actually install!

There is definitely something wrong with the PC or my Internet connection.

1162947 2010-12-18 03:44:00 Can you try clicking on the following link, see if it opens http://www.yourvideofile.com/ Its the designers web site for that plugin.

Just noticed that the link you posted has the address https normally which means a secure site (the s Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure).

Do you have any problems going to other https sites ? if so the security may be a bit to tight, or something is blocking them.
