| 1162679 | 2010-12-17 01:03:00 | Just been told by a customer here in the Far North who has been connected to Broadband for the previous 5 yrs via Telecom, tell me that they have been disconnected for no reason apart from they were the last house on the road. They have had a pretty good service up until now, no problems with payments etc etc & the only other explanation Chorus gave her was that she was just outside the 5km area. What possible reasoning could be behind this? Anybody hear of a similar situation? | Paul Ramon (11806) | ||

It can be expensive but is totally affordable for those who simply want to browse the net monthly as most plans like that seem to be 1,3 and 5gb. | CaptainVincent (76) | ||

| 1162683 | 2010-12-17 01:48:00 | I would fight them in court over it as that is a totally unacceptable service fail I second that as it may seem drastic but this is simply appalling. After 5 years of loyalty telecom shove it to the consumer (and telecom aren't friggen cheap), get into gear telecom. |

| 1162685 | 2010-12-17 02:12:00 | Telecom are continuously Upgrading the network to newer faster broadband gear. An unfortunate downside is that in some rare cases the new hardware will not work for people who were connected outside the current design rules. Telecom have in the past connected people who were technically outside the official reach of ADSL and if it worked let them keep it. It's possible this is what's happened to your friend. |

| 1162686 | 2010-12-17 02:40:00 | Yeah, 5km is about the outer reach of many of the DSL products while maintaining reasonable SLAs, and the actual wire distance may be longer than that. So it's possible that, due to an equipment change at the exchange and/or cabinet, they're simply not able to offer you the service now. But you need to talk to your service provider and get the answer from them. | inphinity (7274) | ||
| 1162687 | 2010-12-17 03:16:00 | Does sound at first reading, what every one is saying, may just be out of reach now due to equipment "upgrades". A few years back, one customer of mine wanted ADSL, the street before hers got it OK, but even though her street was within a stones throw of the other street (literally) Telecom said NO -- So she went with Telstra Cable instead. |

Im flatting with a couple guys who cant get adsl because tcom told them theyve run out of phone lines for the street (rural house). What is satelite like? How much does it cost, and how does it upload data? Which providers are doing it? :pf1mobmini: |
