| 1162478 | 2010-12-16 08:01:00 | My DVD drive doesn't show in windows XP My Computer. HP dv5000 laptop running XP Computer crashed recently and I recovered it using the recovery disks. All seems to work OK except DVD drive doesn't show in My Computer and neither DVD nor CD will play. Device manager says disk is working properly and driver is up to date (I checked). I tried regedit and removed lowerlimit and upperlimit entries as suggested in several forums (after backing up registry!) No effect I uninstalled DVD drive from device manager and rebooted Boot up reported that the DVD drive was found and installed OK (i.e the notification bubbles from system tray) Still no DVD drive. Drive clicks and whirrs on startup - but not in disk list in My Computer I'm stuck! Further suggestions appreciated Mike |
