1161964 2010-12-17 23:57:00 Thanks.

I will try imgburn or roadkil sometime.

But I am very slow at doing things, so it will take me a while to getting around to it!

Its a pity Windows doesn't come with better CD/DVD copying software.

If you get stuck I'm not working at the moment and would be happy to help you out

1161966 2010-12-18 00:52:00 dd_rescue will be able to copy the whole disk to an image, and is excellent at coping with errors.

Photorec should be able to recover most of the files.

x2

Also you can try Copy It Anyway from chakan.on.neobee.net

1161967 2010-12-18 03:03:00 Use the app listed by zqwerty. It will copy the CD ignoring the faulty file/s. FoxyMX (5)
1161968 2010-12-18 05:50:00 Optical drives in my experience are pretty poor for long-term functionality. I've seen lots become useless after just a couple of years, with some provided by Dell being the worst examples. Luckily they're fairly cheap to replace. I'd suggest you try a different drive to see if it helps... it may be the drive or the media at fault, or a bit of both elements. Paul.Cov (425)

I also bought it a few years ago.Very handy.Once copied a faulty music cd and it took about18 hours. The extracted cd plays well.

Hi gary67,

Thanks for the offer.

I am a bit of a muddler. I usually get there eventually. Have been given lots of advice, so I should be OK.
